Howard P. Bakrins, CPA
Howard brings over 31 years of experience providing middle market companies and their principals with expert tax guidance and planning opportunities.
Specifically, he specializes in tax and business planning for closely held businesses. His practice includes U.S., state and local, and international tax planning, and compliance, accounting for income taxes, tax credits and incentives, corporate merger and acquisition transactions, real estate, family wealth and succession planning. During his career, Howard has represented business in many industries, including manufacturing, distribution, service & technology companies, real estate businesses and not for profit organizations.
Howard also has extensive experience in entity structuring and tax strategies and methods that maximize the value of the businesses he represents.
Corporate executives and wealthy family groups value his experience with income tax planning, establishing charitable foundations, estate, gift and generating skipping tax planning, family limited partnerships and transactional planning and analysis. Howard is also knowledgeable in the tax laws pertaining to hedge fund transactions.
Howard earned his Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) from University of Illinois and is a member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. Howard enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time with his wife and two young grandsons.

Mark Gallegos, CPA, MST, is a tax partner on Porte Brown’s accounting and consulting services team in the Elgin, Illinois, office. He has more than 20 years of experience. He spends a great deal of time advising, speaking, and writing about international tax, mergers & acquisitions and credits and incentives. Gallegos has been entrenched in the intricacies of tax legislations and impending changes. Gallegos co-hosts a recurring webinar series on the topic and regularly speaks on tax legislation and other tax topics.
Prior to working at Porte Brown, Gallegos worked for two national accounting firms focusing on middle market clients. He has a passion for helping clients navigate the complicated tax code and being their business advisor to help them be successful.

Rob Eisenstadt, CPA, CM&AA
Rob joined the KRD team as a partner; he has more than 30 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and financial reporting with several Chicago-based public accounting firms. He is a specialist in the manufacturing, distribution and professional services industries where he provides a variety of accounting, tax, business consulting, and financial services to individual and closely-held business clients. His extensive accounting and auditing background served as the basis for assisting with professional training in these functions.
Rob focuses on serving the needs of his clients by providing strategic tax planning, business consulting, and evaluating opportunities to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
Rob received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also a CM&AA, Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Illinois CPA Society.
